Banks impose lots of unfair bank charges and it is a very
good thing that people have started to claim them back, most are unfair
overdraft fees and they also include bouncing cheque's and direct debits
and some of these unfair charges can add up to thousands of pounds. The
reason that these bank charges are so unfair and unlawful is that they
do not match the bank's costs; if you go overdrawn it does not cost the
bank anywhere near what it charges you and this is why it is so unfair,
some of these bank charges are huge. |
Claiming back these bank charges is unfortunately not an easy process, there
are a couple of options open to you and the first is to do it yourself but
this is a very complicated procedure and you do not want to get it wrong. Therefore
the best bet is to use one of the professional services to reclaim your unfair
bank charges and these services are often very cheap, the best thing is that
you know that they will follow the correct procedure and have lots of experience
and so you have a much better chance of reclaiming your unfair bank charges. Many
of these companies also offer a no win no fee service and often with a very
low service fee which makes it a very good choice when claiming back your bank
charges.
For any one still wondering why the Office of Fair Trading is presently looking
into the clearness and scope of bank charges, the reaction to a hugely questionable
new charge at first Direct tells them everything they have to know. Four months
back, the bank faced acres of hostile newsprint after claiming it would bill
current account customers [pound]120 a year for the service unless they also
held another First Direct product or paid in more than [pound]1,500 a month.
Yesterday, the bank said only twenty thousand shoppers had closed their accounts
since the new charge was introduced, only 1 in ten of the 195,000 or so it
guesstimates are influenced by the charge. Yet their attempts have ceaselessly
proved fruitless, regardless of the sad IRs many banks offer on their current
accounts, not to say the bad service.
The Office of Fair Trading's inquiry, launched in May following mounting
concern about probably illegal unapproved borrowing charges, is probing the
amount to which purchasers understand the way in which their banks charge.
The watchdog's suspicion is that free banking may be pretty costly when
you factor in borrowing charges, poor IRs and issues like the slow processing
of checks.
